ECB publishes the results of its survey of professional forecasters

  • 2018 inflation rate 1.5%
  • 2019 inflation rate 1.6% (from 1.7% prior)
  • 2020 inflation 1.7% (from 1.8% prior)
  • Longer-term expectations remain at 1.9%
  • 2018 GDP growth 2.4%
  • 2019 GDP growth 2.0%
  • 2020 GDP growth 1.6%
  • 2018 core inflation 1.2%
  • 2019 core inflation 1.5%
  • 2020 core inflation 1.7%

Projections show that growth for 2018 and 2019 was lifted while 2020 was lowered a little. No changes to core inflation forecasts. Nothing much else from the report, these are just what the so-called “professional forecasters” are viewing and not the ECB themselves.

The ECB will release their own set of projections in the upcoming meeting in June.
