10 year yields are mixed

The European major stock indices moved higher earlier in the day, but could not sustain the upside momentum.

  • German Dax fell -0.4%
  • France’s Cac fell -0.5%
  • UK’s FTSE fell -0.2%
  • Spain’s Ibex fell -0.8%
  • Italy’s FTSE MIB fell -1.31%
  • Portugal PSI20 bucked the trend and closed up 0.3%

IN the 10 year note sector, yields are ending mixed. Italy’s yields moved up 8.5 bps on reports that the EU would reject the Italian budget proposal. 

In the forex market, the USD traded near high levels at the start of the session, but rebounded as the morning trading continued.  The JPY is now the strongest currency (was the USD at the start of the NA session). The CAD is the weakest.  The GBP was the weakest at the start of the day.  

US stock have been trading in a volatile down and up range. The major indices are down but off the lows for the day:
  • S&P is down -3.67 points or -0.14%
  • Nasdaq is down -14  points or -0.19%
  • Dow is down 74 points or -0.29%
